Crossfire Ghost Mode Basics
Global Risk Tutorial 101
Q:What is “Pinpointing”?
A: Pinpointing is the term used for locating nearby ghost even though you can’t see them
"A player that can detect and kill ghosts within half a second after contact is called a Pinpointer,
Some players accuse pinpointers as HACKERS/CHEATERS/WALL HACKERS because they can kill a ghost even though its stationary"
Q:How does a pinpointer find a stationary/moving ghost?
A: By centering the breath in their headphones, whenever they hear a breath, they tend to look at where they heard the breath (even though the breath is behind a wall, above them or under) and then they will look a bit to the left/right of the breath to further increase the accuracy of their pinpointing
-Some pinpointers are passive, they do not engage breath that they think are "Out of range" or they are after a specific nearby breath-
Q:What is their Pinpointing limit?
A: Pinpointing depends on Environment noise level(Real life or In-game), and their Headset volume
Normal pinpointing range is about
10Ft (Stationary/Hopping w/o BS)
5FT for Hoppers w/ BS (Sometimes when a breath spikes, you can quickly look at where the breath came from and perform a quick pinpointing then kill the ghost. But their sense of sight is second to the most used to pinpoint ghost, even though they can't hear their enemies, when they saw something moved they will shoot any ghost at sight
Q:What is a “BS”?
A: Breath silencer, Item mostly bought and equipped by BL players to hinder their breath, well they are still emitting breath but not that loud than normal breaths, which is difficult for newbie pinpointers and sometimes even on semi-skilled ones.
Q:What's the best weapon to use in Ghost mode?
A: Best weapons to use in Ghost Mode are shotguns and suppressed rifles(For less noise emission), Specifically
Shotguns:
Dual Desperado
XM1014
SPAS
KSG-15
Rifles:
Elite M4A1
Any M4-ADV variant
MP5-ADV
Any AK variant(Just be careful not to spray with this gun too much, you'll make too much noise and distract other nearby pinpointers)
Thrown
Stock grenade
-Do not use grenades with special effects and sounds, special grenades distracts other pinpointers and obstructs your sight
Q:How can i improve my audio quality and make it louder?
(I can't guarantee that this will work with everyone, not everyone has an integrated Realtek Audio card in their mobos, if you don'have an integrated Realtek audio card, Skip this one)
A:First, 1.Download realtek hd audio manager from here (If you have an existing Realtek HD Audio manager installed, Skip this step)
And then choose the one matches your operating system. Then install *restart* and then you can see an orange speaker on the bottom right corner (Or go to Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Realtek HD Audio Manager)
On the Speaker config tab,
Check the "Headphone Virtualization" checkbox then go to Sound Effects, Select "Living Room" in the Environment dropbox
then on the equalizer Set it on "Live" preset then slide up the 250,500, and 1K channel. Then save it whatever you want to name it.
!PRECAUTION!
Do not set your headset's volume to full
Always practice @ 50-65
When your ears are comfortable with the volume
Increase until it reaches 75
Too loud volumes will cause you Otitis.
EXTRAS
Delete your English and Woman folder in Crossfire/Rez/Snd2
This will remove your Radio/Message and "Fire in the hole" sounds so you dont get distracted when you're pinpointing.

Realtek HD audio manager config
2ndary audio settings
This audio tweak is for non-realtek users, or realtek users that wants a better audio setup.
Most sound cards have an EQ panel (Equaliser), I have Creative Sound Blaster. Screenshot below shows mine. Using these EQ settings will really help you hear
the breath of ghosts and lower gun noises. If you don’t know if you have any EQ panel, Google your soundcard, usually it’s down to the audio software
installed.
There are 2 options, Realtek and Equalizer APO. Realtek works for some people but is sticky and messy... However, Equalizer APO will work for anyone 100% so
you should probably try that firs!t
Equalizer APO
Follow my instructions and you'll be fine. Only for windows.
1. Download: http://sourceforge.net/projects/equalizerapo/
No restart yet.
Install, select the audio devices that you use (headphones -high definition or speakers-Xfi-SoundBlaster etc etc) (NO restart yet).
2. Download: http://www.mediafire.com/download/misoyx8c4258afo/GMEQ_1_desktop1.req (Save to Desktop for ease)
3. Download: http://www.mediafire.com/download/h8ajhovw7danivq/wizardinstallv5.exe
Install it and do system restart
4. Open up Room EQ Wizard 5, click Meaure in top left, Continue anyway, click Start Measure, OK.
5. Click EQ top right, select the tab Equaliser: DSP1124p then select FBQ2496.
6. click EQ Filters at top of window, click blue folder (open) and select the GMEQ_1_desktop1.req you downloaded (to desktop in Step 2). click save (icon
next to blue folder on the right), name it gmeq1, and again name it gmeq1 save to Desktop.
7. go to main REW window, File> Export> Export Filters as text, name it gmeq1, again name it gmeq1 save to desktop.
8. Close down REW, click Save to save the measurement.
9. Copy the gmeq1.txt on your desktop then go to C:\Program Files\EqualizerAPO\config and paste it. Open the Config.txt file, rename Include: example.txt
into Include: gmeq1.txt and save.
Now you should hear an immediate change in audio, it will sound very different. This is 100% correct and you have been successful

Ghost mode basic tactics
Basics of Pinpointing
> Breath centering (Direct Pinpointing)
> Breath Compensation if the breath is located infront or behind you. Either the breath comes from above or below you.

ghost mode advanced tactics
> Interception (Basically stopping a ghost from going into the objective, Preventing the ghost from planting the bomb or killing a team mate)
> Intercepting Grenade throw (Useful when a ghost is running/hopping Ex: There's a ghost running and going to GR Base. Obviously he'll go through the hallway. You need to throw a grenade in the hallway to intercept the ghost. If your timing and throw is perfect, your grenade and ghost will meet at the same time.)
> Predictive instinct
- Predictive grenade throwing (Guessing where to throw the grenade)
- Predictive firing (Spraying)
- Predictive grenade throwing (Guessing where to throw the grenade)
- Predictive firing (Spraying)
> Flanking (Flanking and neutralizing a fleeing ghost.)
> Breath Queueing
(Prioritizing which breath to pinpoint and neutralize. Kill the ghost which is about to attack you and then switch to the other one.)
(Prioritizing which breath to pinpoint and neutralize. Kill the ghost which is about to attack you and then switch to the other one.)
> Breath Locking (Once a breath is heard, the pinpointer is locked onto it. And he/she will wait for the right moment to make a move.
> Cover Firing (Spraying or shooting through a team mate just to save him/her. Useful when someone is defusing the bomb)
> Long Range Engagements (It involves a sharp sense of sight. Killing a ghost in long ranges without the use of sense of hearing) Aim lower than the area that you are looking, So you can see more things in the area you are looking at. Then whenever you see a ghost moving in that area dont hesitate to fire.
But be careful of flankers and stay alert. Some ghosts may sneak and kill you. Dont stay in one area for a long time.

> Sacrifice (Sacrificing yourself just to protect a team mate. Useful when someone is defusing the C4.)
Blocking the attack is the best way to sacrifice yourself in order to complete the objective. Or getting into the way of the ghost in order to protect a valuable person in the team.

Ghost mode Weapon choices
A normal M4A1 with added suppressor to reduce noise emission, i say its the most controllable weapon that i've ever used, best for pinpointing stationary ghosts and long range engagements. Its low noise and low recoil makes it very easy to use, anyone can adapt to this gun easily. Its not that powerful just like the AK but it packs just enough punch to make a ghost stop breathing.
Pros:Easy to control, Added 5 rounds per magazine, low recoil
Cons:
Pros:Easy to control, Added 5 rounds per magazine, low recoil
Cons:
Elite M4A1 with a thinner suppressor, Rail system, and a scope
This is the most accurate rifle that i used in ghost mode, its thinner suppressor makes it feel more accurate and added scope for longer range of vison. Best for stationary ghosts and long range engagement
Pros: Thinner suppressor makes it feel more accurate, added scope
Cons:

Pros: Thinner suppressor makes it feel more accurate, added scope
Cons:
Its the most powerful rifle in the game, in terms of damage but its major drawback is recoil and noise.
I used it in some of my ghost mode gameplays, and it is awesome it can kill a ghost without armor with only 6-7 rounds in the torso 10-15ft and its one hit kill in the head. Best for killing runners and BS ghosts.
Pros: Powerful, easy to control
Cons: Very loud gunfire, High Recoil

MP5 with a suppressor and light in weight makes it best for close quarter engagements, despite its low damage in long ranges, it has a high rate of fire and large clip 40 Rounds
Pros: Light,High ROF, low recoil and weight
Cons:Not that easy to control, low damage in long ranges and per shot
Pros: Light,High ROF, low recoil and weight
Cons:Not that easy to control, low damage in long ranges and per shot
KSG-15, the most powerful semi-auto shotgun in ghost mode(imo)
I used it in some game once, PapeChulo owns one of this and he is now known forhis "Bazooka"
Best for medium to close quarter engagements, its one hit kill in the torso (Ghost w/o armor) and even Ghosts with BS can't stand a chance with this shotgun
Pros:High damage, 12 shell capacity and stable recoil
Cons: Only ghosts that has BS hates this gun

2 Quad Barrel sawn-off shotguns that holds 8 rounds, Good for Close Quarter combat and BS Ghosts. Sometimes im having a hard time using this gun because the ghosts are too fast (or its just me)
Pros: 1 hit kill, effective on pop up ghosts
Cons: Slow rate of fire
Pros: 1 hit kill, effective on pop up ghosts

XM1014, Shotgun with the highest rate of fire, some skilled pinpointers shoots every one shell reload.
Pros: Best for close quarters and when you're being chased by ghosts, has a reload then shot feature
Cons:
Pros: Best for close quarters and when you're being chased by ghosts, has a reload then shot feature
Cons:
SPAS-12, one of the semi-auto shotguns in crossfire, Best for close quarters engagement lacks damage in long ranges. Nothing special about it
Pros: Best for close quarters, Has a solid shot
Cons: Slow rate of fire and reload

Cons: Slow rate of fire and reload
Stock grenade, good for blowing the sh*t out of stationary ghosts
I prefer the stock grenade than ones with special effects
Pros: Sensei told me not to use grenades with fancy effects because it can obstruct vision and its jag damned
Cons:

1. Always be attentive to your environment, never let your guard down.
2. Back up team mates that are being chased by multiple ghosts(Or when they are defusing).
3. Always alert the team when you found the C4.
Don'ts
1. Never throw flashbang/Grenade directly at your team mates, this might cause a distraction to them.
